Coldborough Park Farm – Green Initiative

Hello fellow farmers,

I still been hot and heavy on Farm Simulator 15. I decided one map was just not going to appease my addiction. I added another save to the mix, Coldborough Park Farm. My other save, Mulroy Bay, is more of a livestock orientated map were Coldborough is all about agriculture. So now I have a choice, if I’m feeling like feeding cows, I jump onto the Mulroy Bay save. Need some time in the fields, I have the Coldborough save.

I actually have 60+ hours into the Coldborough save and haven’t gotten much done. I have went through two harvests covering six fields. The fields are decent sized but have noticed that big implement seems gaudy in this place. Meaning big is not always better. My son thought he would help his father by buying him a harvester. I had been renting my harvesters in attempt to feel out each one for the big job they have in the fields. Well, he managed to get me the biggest Case IH in the store. Haha, yep, tracks and everything. It is so big that I have only one overhang to store the behemoth. Thank goodness it’s maneuverable and can get through the tight gates. He meant well. He just didn’t understand the plan I had.

Most of my time spent in the save has been experimental. I have been trying different things with course play and it just eats up time. I am getting better at it. I am more of a manager than a tractor driver. Oh, I can drive, just like managing the automation.

Yes I have a Green Initiative plan for this save. I am already have part of my plan in place. I have six solar panels and a windmill in place. Not only is there an income coming in steadily, I am also supplying green energy to my region. I also am getting geared up for silage production. I am planning to give the Bio Gas plant all the silage they need to produce renewable energy. Sure the income is good, but my main plan is green technology.

I am still going to plant and harvest , although I’m finding the task repetitive and struggle finding the fun in it. Don’t get me wrong, the logistics part is so much fun. This game is packed full of logistic work.

What I’ve done so far. I sold off all my livestock. I just don’t have the time to take it seriously. Planted and harvested a couple of times. Planted sugar beets for the first time. Started mowing the grass fields for silage conversion. The logistic of getting it to the plant has yet to be thought out though. I’m still trying to find the most efficient way to get the product there. The Bio Gas plant is a little distance away from my grass fields. I will figure it out.

The future, buy all the fields and gear up for a lot of agriculture production. Let’s hope I can still find fun in it and not get overwhelmed. There is just a ton of stuff to do.

That’s about it.

Happy farming!

Mulroy Bay – Just plain Brilliant

Hi Everyone,

I am still just a newbie at this Farm Simulator thing, but I am really enjoying myself. I am totally digging farming in the UK. Makes me wish I was there. Anyway, I am a 4th generation immigrant from Ireland. It isn’t that long ago that my great, great Grandfather and Mother took a ship to the USA and made a home here. I have always felt a kindship with Ireland. Since map modding is such a big part of the Farm Sim adventure, I just had to get my hands on an Irish map to farm on. I found Mulroy Bay.

What can I say about Mulroy Bay? It’s truly brilliant. The rolling fairly steep hills are something. Its narrow streets are quite the challenge to navigate. The shrubbery that is everywhere allows one to pass through, I couldn’t imagine the difficulty of navigation if pass through was not allowed. Many maps don’t allow that. The navigation through the farms is way tight. It will be something a farmer has to get use too. A good handle of one’s tractor is a must for this game because there is plenty structures wanting to snag a tractor. It’s not exactly a map for the novice.

I truly love this map. However, there is no Biogas Plant. I think that would have been icing on the cake. A farmer is given ownership of all the fields at the start of the save. Most are grass fields. I have only found three fields ready to go for planting. All the grass fields will need ploughed to convert them to a crop field. All that grass that could be mowed and collected for silage. I personally like the Biogas spin on the game and I think that not including the plant is disappointing. Ahh, but no worries mate. I am getting by. Hehe

Like I said before, not exactly a map for a novice just starting out. Making money to keep the farm alive takes a bit of creativity. There is no Biogas plant to run too for cash. I have taken another approach in my save. I’m going for the other cash cow, electricity. Yep, solar panels and when I get the capital, a windmill. These things are definitely a must if a person wants a steady income coming in. I have five solar panels at the moment giving me quite a boost of income. I was able to pay off my debt also.

Solar panels are quite expensive so I ended up selling some land for the capital needed to purchase them. I figured I’m not using them so why not. I can always purchase the land for the same amount so it won’t be like I am out of anything. The banking mod I’m using allows for selling so that’s what I did. It worked out perfectly, I was able to purchase the solar panels. My “Green Initiative” is in full swing. My next purchase will be the expensive windmill. For the amount of return of investment coming in, one would think I am powering the whole region. Yes, windmills are a huge investment but they will pay for themselves and then some.

Another heavy investment I did in this Mulroy Bay save is cows. Lots of cows. I have a 100 dairy cows and 100 cows for beef production. This is just a start. I plan on raising those numbers in the future. There is definitely a return in investment. It has really helped my bottom line.

As for crops, I have planted wheat for the straw. I have also just planted sugar beets. I am going to rent the harvester to harvest the crop. I just do not have the funds to purchase it. Plus, if I can rent it, I don’t see the need to purchase it.

Most of my heavy work is feeding the cows and keeping them at a 100% productivity. I have been baling hay and straw. Plus, I have a little bit of silage for the mix of the three. I have to keep those cows happy.

Some of my future projects is sugar beet crop. I do have my first crop in the ground as of this writing. Supposedly, this crop has a good return. A must when I don’t have much money in the bank. Yes, the income is coming in but I need to save for that windmill. I would also like to get into sheep. Not sure how the wool thing would go, but I’m sure I can figure it out.

Anyway, give Mulroy Bay a try. I think you will enjoy it like I have.

 Happy Farming!

It’s been a while since I wrote here. I have been struggling with my health and just have not been into writing. Yes, my creativeness seems to go out the window when not feeling well. Don’t get me wrong though. I have been gaming. Heck, I might have been going mad over these sims games. They are a lot of fun.

I am still playing Football Manager. However, I am not as hot and heavy on it as of late. I discovered the space fairing Kerbals and the fantastic game called Farm Simulator. Sheesh, I am totally crazy over Farm Sim 15. What a game. I have been losing sleep over this game and loving it. Yep, the addiction has struck.

I am still working on the Red Bulls Brasil. As a matter of fact, the save has been going better than I ever expected. I got them to the top division. We won division trophies and promoted to the top tier. Now the really hard part. Yes, one of my goals of promotion to the top is done. Now it’s time to build a team to win the title. I want to be the best in Brazil. Then the last goal is build a franchise that will stay in the top tier. So far so good.

As for the new game I found, Farm Sim 15, I’m thinking I might just have to write about my miss adventures as a farmer. I have two saves going at the moment. One I have 38 hours of game play and the other just a few hours. Both are different from each other when it comes to the game. FS15 uses maps and there is quite a vibrant bunch creating maps for use all to play. One of my maps is heavy on livestock and the other is real heavy on agriculture. Plus, tons of YouTubers are playing certain maps right now and thought I would try them myself. Fun stuff.

Anyway, hopefully I can get off my lazy behind and do some writing. Keep an eye out, I just might throw some new adventures your way.

Take care and happy gaming.

Not a very good start to the 2015 season. We were just crushed in the state league. I will give the team credit. At no time did they give up. Even when they were out classed, they still kept the competition close. We could have had a bit better luck. The team road in 15th place most of the time until dropping to 17th with the last two matches. Actually, the last to matches were winnable. We just couldn’t get a good result. The team has been relegated to a lower State league level. I have to admit having such a rough time has been tough on the team and myself. It takes the fun right out of the game.

rrb-boardconfidenceafterstate2015

Well, at least someone is happy on the team. The board is not that concerned about the State league so my job is not in danger at the moment. As we get into the Serie D matches, I will start being scrutinized.

Serie D is next…

Red Bull Adventure – Brasil – Part 2

MatchResults2014b

The second half of the 2014 season went a lot better. I guess we were a little out classed in the state matches. Victories started to come our way as we entered Serie D competition. We actually won every match in Copa Paulista getting us into the finals. The team played well and we were barely beaten by Guaratingueta in the quarter finals. So, so close to making the finals in Serie D. Copa Paulista finals kind of shoved my Serie D matches back to a point that I had three of them in one week. We were able to get pass Paulsta and Ituano but Bangu has been a thorn in my side. Bangu is a team I should be able to put away but after seeing them twice this year, we couldn’t get more than a draw. That draw cost us dearly.

LeagueResults2014

That is how close it was. Hopefully next year we will see the finals.

Off season time. I am planning on changing the whole team bring in some fresh talent. It’s a gamble but I am going to give it a try.

Red Bull Adventure – Brasil – Part 1

Red Bull Brasil

I am a big New York Red Bull fan. I have been following them since first getting into football (soccer) a few years ago. Actually, it wasn’t until I found Football Manager that my love for football really exploded. Yeah, I am going to blame my addiction on FM. Anyway, this is a new save after the bad attempt at managing A. C. Milan. I pretty much could not get a handle of the game and paid dearly, getting sacked. I am going to start with Red Bull Brasil and see were it leads. My hope is to get into a stable championship form in the top tier and win Brazilian top honors. After meeting these goals, maybe moving to another Red Bull team and seeing what I can do. However, I suspect that is a ways off because Brasil is in the D league and has quite a climb to the top.

I going to take a kind of Journeyman Career to my save. Even though I’m not starting my career unemployed, I will be starting at the bottom of my skill level with my stats and will need to build it as I progress. It makes it more realistic I think.

Here we go. As I looked over RB Brasil’s team. The stats look really good. Some times these lower league teams have a ton of not so promising players but not this one. Woohoo, lets get the show on the road.

rbb-results1

Yikes! Yeah, it was a rough time in the Sao Paulo State. I worked hard to get the team to push through but we kept coming up short. Yes, it was very frustrating. The odd thing the board was satisfied. I guess they are more interested in me doing well in the Serie D and Copa Paulista that is coming up. I thought for sure that was the end of me. What a short career that would be.

Stay tuned – I think there is a Red Bull storm coming.

A. C. Milan – Return to Glory Part 7

Capture 1

After some rough months during the winter, it looks like things are getting better. We did suffer from bitter loses but we fought back and got some good wins in.

I received this email after the Napoli match;

Capture 2

Is this my demise?

Capture 3

Yes, I am sacked. I’m a little disappointed by this. They were satisfied with my performance during the rough times and didn’t say much. They didn’t even give me a chance to set things right. I need another transfer window to get fresh talent to improve the team. Heck, I even begged them to let me keep going. They didn’t seem to think I could do that. Their loss really. It’s Ok, still trying to get use to the game play. What worked in Football Manager 14 doesn’t seem to work as well in 15. I guess I’m still learning the ropes.

Capture 4

Here is the standings as of the day I was sacked. I was still on the top half of the standings. I realize it was not great for a team like this one. I was just a tough season.

I think I might give it a go again. I might get some more experience first before tackling this challenge again.

A. C. Milan – Return to Glory Part 6

Season Results March 2015

I don’t know what to say. I had one hell of a poor streak going. Its my fault really. I couldn’t get the team past all the drama. At the beginning of the season I made Diego López Rodríguez the captain of the team. This player was truly the anchor of the team. Unfortunately, something happened in his personal life around December and he asked to go back to Spain on a leave of absence. I guess it shook the team up. Milan just could not get back into game winning form. Christian Abbiati took over Diego’s starter position and has been up to the task, thankfully. I ended up letting Diego go and he was transferred to a Spanish team. I wish him luck in his future there. No ill feelings about him leaving.

On a good note. Our loan from Chelsea, Fernando Torres, has done us proud. With Giampaolo Pazzini’s 3 month absence do to injury, Fernando has stepped up as a league leading striker. I know the fans had high hopes for Pazzini this season and I’m glad Fernando did such a good job filling in.

We did pick up a player in the mid season transfer window. Newcastle’s Rémy Cabella was my choice. Not the greatest at transfers but I gave it a lot of thought. Yes, he wasn’t cheap. His estimated worth is 32m. I got him for 20m. Granted he was injured at the time of transfer and wouldn’t play for us for another few months. I still thought it would be a good value to the offense for the future.

Standings Serie A March 2015

After a poor few months, we are still in the top half of the standings. What’s really interesting is we lead the league in goals at 50. Its too bad we concede our fair share.

Board Confidence March 2015

Honestly, if I was the board, I would have sacked me. I just can’t believe they are satisfied with our current poor form.

Fernando Torres has a great league performance going.

A. C. Milan – Return to Glory Part 5

Season Results Nov 2014

Didn’t struggle as bad as we did the last couple of months. There was couple of comfortable wins against Naloli and Atalanta. Verona loss was a little disappointing. The guys played their heart out to get the match to a tie but it just wasn’t meant to be.

Standings Serie A Nov 2014

Still hanging in there. Juventus looks to be trying to check out. They are working on their 4th Serie A championship in a row. Something I’m planning to stop in the near future.

A. C. Milan – Return to Glory Part 4

Season Results Oct 2014

Another tough month. Sure, we will take three wins but they were close. The loss to Juventus was unfortunate. They are on form and headed to another championship. It was be nice to topple that but at the moment no such luck. More injuries. Stephan El Shaarawy has been on and off the injuries list the whole start of the season. We also lost Giampaolo Pazzini for most of the season. There has been a bright light in all of this. Our player loaned from Chelsea, Fernando Torres, has filled Pazzini’s position nicely.

Standings Serie A Oct 2014

3rd in the standings is still good. The media keeps saying we are playing above expectations. I disagree, I think we are a good enough team to stay on the top half of the standings. Yes, we had to fight hard for it but that makes it that much sweeter.
